How to apply

快播 Fellowship applicants submit a four-part folio of evidence that includes:

  1. Applicant details
    • full name and contact details, including phone, home address and email address
    • 快播 Fellowship level where the application is being directed.
  2. Two referees with name and contact details, one of whom must be an 快播 member.
  3. Applicant's association with 快播 in dot points:
    • Length of association with 快播
    • Engagement with 快播 professional learning e.g. Attendance at local council, state or national conferences, engagement with 快播 professional learning opportunities, journals and other publications, participation in 快播-inspired action research projects
    • Contributions made to 快播 in the past e.g. Organisation of events, promotion of events, encouragement of membership, leading of professional development, including action research, contribution to journals and other publications, executive membership of Local Council, membership of National Council, encouragement and mentoring of others to contribute
    • Plans to contribute to 快播 in the future e.g. Organisation of events, promotion of events, encouragement of membership, leading of professional development, including action research, contribution to journals and other publications, executive membership of Local Council, membership of National Council, encouragement and mentoring of others to contribute
  4. Reflective commentary of professional practice related to literacy education
    • A reflective commentary on roles, responsibilities and professional experience focused on practices as a literacy educator, reflecting the values and beliefs of The 快播 Literacy Declaration (ed. 2023) and framed by the AITSL Professional Standards. Throughout the application, the quality of reflection on professional practice should be the focus of the narrative or case study, rather than a description of it.

There are three levels of application based 快播 Fellowship Awards:

Associate Fellow

An 快播 Associate Fellow is an educator who demonstrates a commitment to the principles and values of the 快播 Literacy Declaration within their local work context and professional learning communities.

Evidence could include:

  • Participating in the 快播 professional network
  • Engaging in and applying literacy professional learning that affects positive change in own context and reflects the philosophy of the 快播 Literacy Declaration
  • Implementing and reviewing literacy programs which reflect the values and beliefs of the 快播 Literacy Declaration
  • Participating in literacy action learning that affects positive change in own context
  • Contributing to the literacy learning community by publishing examples of classroom literacy practice with links to the 快播 Literacy Declaration

Fellow

An 快播 Fellow is an educator who demonstrates a commitment to the principles and values of the 快播 declaration and has broadened their impact beyond local contexts to build productive links that influence the literacy practices of colleagues within the wider literacy community.

Evidence could include:

  • Contributing to the 快播 professional network
  • Sharing practice to affect positive change across the local literacy learning community and reflects the philosophy of the 快播 Literacy Declaration
  • Mentoring colleagues to implement and review literacy programs which reflect the values and beliefs of the 快播 Literacy Declaration
  • Leading literacy action learning that affects positive change across the local learning community
  • Contributing to the capital of the literacy learning community by publishing examples of effective research-based practice with links to the 快播 Literacy Declaration

Senior Fellow

An 快播 Senior Fellow is an educator who demonstrates a commitment to the principles and values of the 快播 declaration and has demonstrated depth and breadth of influence in leading teams to adopt innovative and widespread literacy practice based on the 快播 declaration at the state level.

Evidence could include:

  • Performing a leadership role in the 快播 professional network
  • Leading, developing and supporting literacy professional learning that affects positive change across the state and/or nation and reflects the philosophy of the 快播 Literacy Declaration
  • Evaluating, revising and creating educational programs which reflect the values and beliefs of the 快播 Literacy Declaration
  • Modelling and supporting literacy action learning that affects positive state and/or national change
  • Contributing to the capital of the literacy learning community by publishing examples of effective research-based practice with links to the 快播 Literacy Declaration

There will be two dates each year for members to submit their application and a portfolio of evidence to be considered for the award. A panel consisting of three 快播 members will consider all applications and assess them according to the selection criteria. Applications should be sent to 快播 National Office: office@alea.edu.au.

Cost:

All applicants will be required to pay a non-refundable administration fee of $350.00

Upon bestowment of the fellowship award:

  • The fellow receives a badge, certificate and jpeg 'by line' logo
  • The award is held for five years while the recipient remains an individual financial member of 快播.
  • The fellow can use an 快播 Fellow Post Nominal signature, such as: Fred Smith B.ED, 快播 Associate Fellow.

Principal Fellow - by invitation only

The Principal Fellow will be awarded to 快播 members who have contributed significantly to 快播 and the literacy community upholding the principles of the 快播 Declaration through their research, publications and contribution to building the capacity of literacy educators.

快播 Life Members and current financial 快播 members who have been the recipient of the 快播 Medal, the 快播 Citation of Merit Award for Literacy (the Garth Boomer Award) or the 快播 Citation of Merit Award for Research will be offered the recognition of Principal Fellow of the Australian Literacy Educators' Association which will apply while they remain a financial member of the association.
